IDEAS is an annual innovation and social entrepreneurship competition for MIT students and their collaborators. We enable students to apply their MIT education in real-world situations to tackle quality of life issues for people around the world. Winning teams receive up to $15,000 to launch their projects during a 15-month grant period.
Solve
An ambitious vision for campus sustainability at MIT is underway and achieving it will be a process. We want you to think of your own journey to sustainability as a process, too: start, study, solve.
Our community – from our researchers to maintenance crews – know that solving big problems is in MIT’s DNA. Coming up with solutions to complex sustainability challenges at the campus scale will take teamwork and perseverance, across all academic and administrative departments at MIT.
MIT and MITOS are leveraging the campus as a test bed for understanding and problem solving. We have created grants, convened stakeholders, catalyzed competitions, and launched initiatives to support our community of problem-solvers – and to stimulate collaboration between faculty, students, and staff.
Are you a student with a big idea for making sustainable changes in your dorm? An administrator who wants to work toward more sustainable operations on campus? A researcher wanting to test out an idea at the community-level?
The resources below will help you get connected with the people, funds, and support you need to start solving sustainable issues on campus and beyond.
